Privacy Policy
Aozora Media LTD ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales with its registered office in London, United Kingdom, is the data controller for personal data processed through DirectApply — our website, web application, and mobile applications (the "Service"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and, where applicable, the EU GDPR.
1. What we collect

Your resume may include information you choose to put in it. We recommend not including special-category data (such as health information) in resumes, as we process resume content as you provide it.
2. Why we process it (legal bases)
- To provide the Service — your feed, resume tools, Apply Assistant, tracking (performance of a contract).
- To process payments and manage subscriptions (performance of a contract; legal obligation for tax and accounting records).
- To improve and secure the Service — analytics, debugging, fraud prevention (legitimate interests).
- To send you service emails, such as receipts and important changes (performance of a contract) and, with your consent, job alerts and product news — you can opt out at any time.
3. AI processing of your career data
To generate tailored resumes, cover letters, and answers, the relevant parts of your resume and the job description are processed by our AI infrastructure, which may include vetted third-party AI providers acting as our processors under contract. Your career data is used to generate documents for you. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train models for other users without your explicit consent.
4. Who we share data with
- Service providers (processors): cloud hosting, AI providers, email delivery, analytics, and customer-support tooling — each bound by data-processing agreements.
- Payment providers: Stripe (web), Apple (App Store), Google (Google Play), each acting as described in their own privacy policies.
- Employers: only when you yourself submit an application on an employer's site. We do not send your data to employers.
- Authorities: where required by law.
We never sell your personal data.
5. International transfers
Some providers process data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, we rely on adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses with appropriate safeguards.
6. How long we keep data
Account and career data are kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal reasons (for example, billing records, kept for 6 years). Backup copies are purged on a rolling schedule.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data; to restrict or object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any right, email support@directapply.jobs — we respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can manage non-essential cookies from the cookie banner or your browser settings.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We will post any changes here and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
